RealtimeCampaign.com Explains How to Perform a DNS Server Check

Few things can be as frustrating as trying to connect to a website or the internet in general and being denied by DNS server errors. Luckily, experts have provided some nifty additional hints on how to clear up this error in case it consistently happens.

RealtimeCampaign.com says Here’s what to do if the DNS server cannot be reached the first thing which should be done is to try connecting with a different device. If the second device can connect, then clearly the problem does not lie with the DNS server. If the second device is unable to connect, it does not necessarily mean that the DNS server is down, but it is a good clue.

The next thing to be done is to try a different browser. Most computers or devices are equipped with multiple browsers. So, if your Firefox browser is not connecting, try Chrome instead. The opposite holds true as well. If Chrome is not working as it should, then try Firefox instead. This is the simplest way to check on DNS errors.

Another easy way to check on the DNS server is to power cycle your router. This is generally the first step that a tech support agent will have you perform when calling in. This is a very simple procedure. The first thing to do is to unplug the power cable to your modem as well as the power cable to your router. After this is completed, you will let them both sit for at least 30 seconds. After the time is up, you can go ahead and plug the modem back in and wait for it to go back online. After this, plug the router back in and wait for that to come back online.

If the above step fails to resolve the problem, try connecting directly with an ethernet cable. If you can connect this way, then the problem is likely with your router and you will need to reset it. If this does not correct the issue, there are other things to try.

Another thing to try is to flush the DNS cache. This requires a little bit of computer savvy so you may have better luck calling a top company such as ThousandEyes and having them walk you through it or having them do it themselves. It will be a simple task for them to do it and that way, you know it is done right.

As you can see, there are some easy ways to get rid of the dreaded DNS error messages. Just remain calm and patient and the problems will be taken care of. You’ll be back online in no time at all.
