New children’s book “The First Catch” by Katelynn Batzer is released, a beautifully illustrated tale of a young girl’s first fly-fishing trip and the accompanying sense of wonder

“The First Catch” by Katelynn Batzer has been released worldwide. This 34-page, fully illustrated children’s book follows a girl, her father, and their trusty dog, Huck, on a fly-fishing adventure that introduces the main character to the joys of fishing, the outdoors, and spending quality time with loved ones. Written in rhyming couplets, young readers can easily be absorbed the story, and find inspiration to connect with nature.

Montana’s very own, Katelynn Batzer, is the poetic author of the new children’s book “The First Catch.” A teacher by profession, Katelynn spent the last several years identifying ways to engage children in reading and expose them to new vocabulary. When she is not in the classroom or writing, you can find her on the river fly-fishing, a skill her dad taught her. Katelynn graduated from Liberty University with her Masters of Education and finds jot in creating engaging opportunities for children to blossom. Katelynn hopes this book encourages children to explore and read more.
