ZÃR: A Documentary on Healing Power of Music launches Kickstarter Campaign
El Mastaba Center for Egyptian Folk Music has proudly announced that it is making an inspiring new short documentary film about ZÃR in Egypt. The title of this upcoming documentary film is ZÃR and the El Mastaba Center has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and they are welcoming generous support and backing. The center for Egyptian folk music is primarily aimed at recapturing the roots of the Egyptian character and emphasizing the idea of belonging through the music.
“It is believed that ZÃR exists in Egypt since the first half of the 19th century after the opening of Sudan in Mohamed Ali’s era in 1820 and there are several types of ZÃR.” Said Zakaria Ibrahim, the Founder of El Mastaba Center for Egyptian Folk Music and the Director of this documentary film, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community. “All types of ZÃR rituals will be documented through our film to discover the magic behind it, and how people believe in its power for healing their pains.” He added. In a nutshell, ZÃR explores the healing powers of music, and the film will help carry this rich traditional heritage to the future generations.
